Engine idles low and sputters when turning off

I just bought a 1981 Ford F-150 and the engine idles low (like a Harley) when it's not moving and it also diesels/sputters and shakes when I turn it off. What can I do to fix this?

Adjust the distributor and tighen the clamp.
