i have a 1980 ford fairmont with an inline 6 engine it runs and drives but while driving down the road it will spit and sputter and the speed will drop way down to 30 35 mph i have checked the choke to see if it was sticking cleaned the spark plugs checked the timing and also when you rev it up while idling it the motor will cut way down like its going to die and then it revs up and cuts in and out. what could be my problem?

check to see if hte advance plate int eh distributor is worn. the vacuum advance pin wears as well as the pivot point on the plate. Aso check to see if your pcv hose is plugged. One other ting to check is if the egr plate is burnt through as they tend to do this . Make sure your coil wire is ok as well and not leaking.
