Will the transmission of a 350 off a 1965 Chevrolet Impala Fit a 1979 Impala that also has a 350?

It should if it's the same bolt pattern. If it is a buick, pontiac, olds model then it won't fit due to different blt patterns.

The guy sent me a picture and in the picture his tail shaft looks longer then the one I have on my car, does that matter?

If it looks longer it cold be the picture or actual. Best thing to do is measure your trans from tailshaft bolts and have him do the same. Otherwise it won't fit if it's to long and you'll have to tear the trans apart and change the shafts/housing at rear.
