SEE DIS?
I HAVE REALLY BEEN THINKING HARD. AND DID COME UP WITH A POSSIBILITY!
QUITE A FEW HOURS OF "PIDDLING" ON THE COMPUTER AND A LITTLE LEG WORK
THIS IS FOR A '79 CJ---I SCANNED A TEENY TINY DIAGRAM---COLORED THE WIRES----IF YOU HAVE A PRESTOLITE IGNITION (THIS DIAGRAM IS "MOTORCRAFT IGNITION"----THE MODULE AND DISTRIBUTOR WIRING ARE SLIGHTLY DIFFERENTAS FOR IGNITION SWITCH AND COIL THEY MAY BE CLOSE TO/ OR THE SAME
I BELIEVE YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH SOMETHING CROSSED UP AT THE SOLENOID/ COIL/ ON THE WAY TO THE SWITCH
SOMETHING IS MAKING YOUR COIL HOT CONSTANTLY
MY SUSPICIONS NOW ARE THE "I" TERMINAL ON THE SOLENOID IS "HOT" CONSTANTLY DUE TO AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN THE SOLENOID (SHOULD GO DEAD WHEN "S" IS NO LONGER ENERGIZED). REPLACE IF THIS IS THE CASE
TO VERIFY MY SUSPICION----DISCONNECT "I", AT THE SOLENOID. JUST AS A TEST. THE JEEP WILL PROBABLY STILL CRANK UP AND RUN (MINE WILL). AND TURN OFF WITH THE KEY. THEN REPLACE THE SOLENOID!
OR YOU HAVE HOOKED SOMETHING UP WRONG!
I BLEW UP AND CONNECTED THE 2 DIAGRAMS--THEN LAMINATED IT
I'M SENDING 3 PICS---LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT THE ENTIRE COLORED DIAGRAM (2 PIECES).I WILL INITIATE A WAY FOR YOU TO COVERTLY SEND YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS
IF YOU DID DO SOMETHING STUPID---PLEASE GIVE IT UP---OTHERS READING THIS WILL BENEFIT!
YOUR TURN
