1. Windshield wipers do not home
2. Windshield wipers work in fast, slow, stop only
3. Control switch (slow, fast, variable, wash, stop) is built into the switch (Ron Francis) aftermarket custom car switch
4. What is the "impulse" switch inside the wiper?
5. Before I experiment with disconnecting this "impulse" switch (unsolder) I assume the motor is just that a motor and was originally controlled by the switch on the post. And that it can be controlled by any switch?
6. Mercedes manual gives no clue what this "impulse" does, local MB mechanics are clueless and suggest buy a new motor assembly for $300.00 plus, and can't read the schematic to assist.

Thanks for your help.

I'd first suggest you contact Ron Francis as it's a custom switch/control to see if they have a diagram online. The impulse allows the wipers to go on every few seconds and also will effect the Park mechanism-meaning they go home. From what you describe the impulse control is bad but not sure how it's hooked up. In later American cars you can just replace the circuit board to fix that. You may be able to do the same with the Ron Francis hook up. So contact them they should be on the net as they are still in business
