I have a 1957 Chevy 3100 sitting on a 1970 Blazer frame. So it's all Blazer (I guess) underneath. OK for grocery getting but last week I dove it around 20 miles and smelled something hot and kind of oily, then the truck slowed down and was really laboring. When I pulled over I took it out of gear and started the motor, everything fine. No problems after I came out of the store and drove home 55+ mph. It has a 350 V8 3 speed manual and we took front drive shaft off. 308 rear end.I have no idea why it did this but it's the 2nd time recently. Throw out bearing? Clutch? I really don't think its the brakes.(Power). Thank you

Hi Mike, I don't know why but I would check the rear brakes. The throwout bearing would most likely start to chatter and the clutch had a distintive smell that you can tell its the clutch burning. The rear brake or breakes may have been the wheel cylinder sticking causing them to drag. If the seal gets hot they leak making a burnt smell. Check your emergency brake cable. The reason I say look at the brakes is that after the store everything worked ok.

Thank you!

I didn't mention the clutch has been rattling badly. So much for a new clutch recently. When I place my foot on it it stops and so does the noise. I was hoping it just might need and adjustment. No emc brake on the truck. Too bad you don't have a shop near Gainesville, FL.
