The dash lights don't light up when you press the brake pedal? That would be a good thing. When you have multiple problems like this, first check for blown fuses, and if you find any that are blown, look for a trailer wiring harness with wires that are chewed up and touching, and wires inside the trunk that are grounding out. It's not going to be a bulb problem because there's at least half a dozen in the instrument cluster, and you know they didn't all burn out at the same time.
A defective dash light rheostat will cause no dash lights too, but that has nothing to do with the brake lights.
