I have a 1958 (Your choices don't go back this far) Bel Air with a 350 small block and 3 on the tree. My problem is my temp gauge reads normal, but after driving 15-20 miles, the latch to open the hood is so hot it will burn your fingers.

Well I go back that far so need Temp readings you can get an inexpensive infarred one check block, radiator, top and bottom hoses then will know where problem is. Has coling system been flushed? thermostat replaced? does it have a fan clutch?
