Engine shutting off while driving?

Hi there I have a 1800 VVTL-I (aka RSI RUNX in South Africa) hatch and I have been experiencing the following problem:

All electrics shuts down completely (engine, electrics, radio etc). No signs or warnings. It then switches on without me doing anything. It happened once when I was idling and a few times while driving, very intermittent, took the car for a diagnostic check and the only error code that came up was coil pack. Error code was then removed (nothing was done to the coil pack, only error removed) and still same problem.

Any advise on what the problem could be? As its driving me insane.

Hello all,

It does not lose power or anything but just simply shuts off ( engine comes to a stall ), I can start it right again but shuts off immediately after no matter how much I try it shuts off (once it left me in the middle of nowhere and tried until the battery died ), but if I leave it few days it starts normally again as nothing happens and after some driving it shuts off again.

I have taken it to a few mechanics and they changed the fuel pump, battery, the disc clutches I think its called, the fuses, the oil and all the other stuff but the car still shuts off while driving.

Forgot to mention they also cleaned the MAF sensor and carburetor.

On testers no codes seem to show up.

I have attached a video of the engine and no, no one is at the driving wheel the engine just revs on its own. In the past in the morning I could not even start it in the morning the engine was stalling if I did not hit the gas pedal until the engine got hot. After I changed the fuel pump it starts and stays on but revs quite bad and still shuts off while driving.

Hello! My car has recently been hesitating and stalling shortly after I start it. Each of the occasions that it has stalled, the car had been sitting all day while I was at work or overnight and I had just reversed out of a parking space and shifted into drive. What could be causing this? I have recently had the spark plugs replaced and an oil change where all fluids were checked and okay. Will run for 20 minutes sometime less sometimes longer won't crank back the first time but usually the second time I try to start it then same thing over again Thank you!

The spark plug replacement was done after the car stalled initially. The guy I took the car to couldn't find anything wrong with it except for the plugs so he replaced them.

The car stalled the next morning and I took the car back to the mechanic who again couldn't find anything wrong and the car didn't stall for him. Since then I can feel it hesitating and today it stalled again as I pulled out of my parking space after work. Is there anything else it could be?

I got the same problem like you I think.

This morning, when I start my car, everything is okay. But few second after, it stalled. I tried again, the same thing. The 3rd time, everything is back to normal. No any difference feeling as before. Now I can drive as usual.

I followed the guide above and it fixed my problem.

Car died while sitting at a stop light and would not turn over.
It will turn over and start then dies. Acts like it's not getting fuel. We have replaced the fuel pump but still does the same thing.
