While driving with the rpms around 2000 the car will jerk and drop to 1500 rpm then back to 2000. It does this repeatedly, and upon heavy acceleration it will hit the rev limiter for about three seconds before it finally drops a gear and accelerates. I hooked it up to my code reader and got p0742 which is for the torque converter solenoid. I just had the transmission replaced for it not moving when being put into any gear, reverse, drive, first, second, and third. Does not matter if engine is hot or cold, also sometimes when I shut it off it will crank and not start until I try twenty or thirty times, but may be a complete different issue.

Sounds like the transmission is slipping. Was this a used transmission that you had installed? The TCC solenoid issue could be caused by low transmission fluid, as that solenoid requires a certain amount of fluid pressure. Check the fluid. Make sure that (1). It is pinkish in color with no metal shavings on it and (2). That there is enough of it when the transmission has been warmed up.

Okay thanks, it is my sister's car. I had limited time with it today but I will look into it more tomorrow and let you know what I find.
