1998 Ford Contour timing belt broke

Everyone tells me I have bent valves, because the belt broke and the head has 0 clearance. The bolts in the head are covered by the cams. The rear cam lift out easy but the front cam is different. I'm having a problem with the intake. If I let it go from the head, does come off with the intake? I worked on cars in my teens, it was easier and a lot more room to work. How do you donate?. RAY

Hello Ray
Thanks for the donation

The DOHC engine is a non-interference designed engine. The valves would not have been damaged by the timing belt breaking. You can confirm this by contacting your local Ford dealer and ensuring it is indeed a non-interference engine before you start tearing it apart to inspect it.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
