My grandmother has a 2001 Volvo V70 wagon and the battery has been trying to go out over the last couple of weeks. Sometimes she would have to get it jumped off and it be ok for a day or two then it would go out. Well I went over there today and replaced the battery with a duralast battery and got everything hooked up and started the car to make sure.
I went home and she came over about an hour later and said the A/C wasnt working. I go out there and start the car up, and try to turn the a/c on and nothing. None of the lights for the a/c will come on, the blower, defrost, etc. Anything that has to do with a/c will not work or try to work. Its like there is no power going to it period. I checked the fuses and everything seems to be fine with them.
It shouldnt be the compressor or anything like that because it would still blow some air out even if the compressor locked up. The dang thing just isnt getting any power from what I can tell. She said it was working saturday but not today.
Did swapping that battery out lock out the a/c or heater or something. Kinda like some cars will do with the radio. Everything else in the car works but the a/c control area. I checked all the fuses. I saw in the history from 2008 someone had the same issue on here but there was no diagnosis for it and no update.

Thanks for any input.

So basically the car had a/c, I took the old battery out and put a new one in, and then there is no a/c.

Here is a solution to this problem.
It seems that volvo has some sort of memory relapse with the a/c unit when the battery is changed out.

I took both terminals off and taped them together so that they would get connection. I left them like this overnight. Today I went out there and hooked both cables back up and went to the drivers door and put the key in the door, turned it to the unlock position for 10 seconds and repeated 2 more times for a total of 3 times.
I got in the car and started it up and the air is working perfectly.

Goodjob. Was going to suggest that since I just saw your post on here. But yes, sometimes when a control module goes offline like that after a battery change, touchin the cables together when disconnected will usually reset all the control modules.
