2001 Volkswagen Passat Light bulb replacement

How do I replace the light bulb behing the fan speed knob. I can pill the knob off and see the light but can not figure out how to the get to the bulb

Usually those bulbs are installed from therear of the unit, if they are replaceable at all.I would go to the VW dealer and see if they show a replacement part before taking it apart. If so you will probably need to remove the dash bezels enough to be able to remove the temp control head and replace it from the back of the unit

It is not true. The bulb is installed behind the fan switch.
You remove the fan switch and pull the bulb out and replace it by pushing it in. Found on WEB, by doing a search on replacing light in heat a/c controll
