88 Chevy 3/4 ton 2500 small block 350 vortex Truck runs good for about 10 minutes, check engine light starts blinking, and then the truck starts cutting out and running really rough. Total loss of power and dies all the time. What are some things I should trouble shoot?

You need to check the information that you are supplying to us.

They didn't have flashing check engine lights nor Vortec engines in 1988.

You might check your information its a Vin-K V-series with a 5.7 liter engine and MT. Shows in Chilton's Full size trucks manual 88-89. The flashing of the check engine light was on some times, then off for short periods of time not like a constant flash. "Flashing". Thank you for not even giving any information that you might think the problem may be, and pointing out small technicalities. But, thanks, I will go to O'Reilly's auto parts and they can probably find the answer.

There is no problem with my information. Your VIN K 5.7 is a TBI engine not a Vortec.A Vortec would be a VIN "R" and wasn't produced until the late 90s. The flashing check engine lights was a feature built into OBD2 to warn that there was a misfire present serious enough to damage the catalytic converter. Your prehistoric OBD1 system is not even capable of tracking misfires and did not have that function built into it. If your check engine light is flashing, it can only indicate a problem with the ECM or the dash light itself.
