Hello. Thanks for the donation. Much appreciated
is the security indicator light flashing?. Or do you have the MIL/CEL.(Check engine light) on/flashing
let me know.
PASS-KEY(R) III SYSTEM
The PASS-Key(R) III system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by disabling engine unless an ignition key with a specific electrical value is used in the ignition key lock cylinder. When ignition key is inserted in ignition lock cylinder, wire coils surrounding ignition cylinder energize a transponder pellet inside plastic portion of ignition key. The transponder transmits a unique value by radio frequency back to the coils in the PASS-Key(R) III module. When PASS-Key(R) III module detects voltage with ignition switch in RUN or START position, it measures transponder value received by coils. If value is valid, SECURITY indicator light remains on steady for 2 seconds. Module sends a pulse width modulated signal to PCM. If value is not valid, module does not send a pulse width modulated signal to PCM. If enable message is received by PCM, fuel system is enabled. If invalid message is received, SECURITY indicator light flashes once per second and fuel system is not enabled. If an illegitimate key is used or problem with system exists, SECURITY indicator light flashes twice per second and fuel system is not enabled. The password between module and PCM is unique to each module, preventing theft by replacing module or PCM. System components include ignition key, ignition key lock cylinder, PASS-Key(R) III decoder module, and PCM.
