1995 Pontiac Grand Prix 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Started surging now wont start. When you try to start the car it back fires thru the breather.

Hi:
Was the check engine light on? If so, you need to rent or borrow a scanner and check the computer for codes. The computer will have a trouble code storred and it will help identify the problem.
