Engine Performance problem
2000 Pontiac Grand Am 6 cyl Automatic

when you start the car (even after running awhile and then restarting) it sputters or jumps like it will die, and sometimes does. If it keeps running, will go ding ding ding and then will run fine.

If the light hasn't come on, then chances are the problem doesn't deal with the ignition system but rather the fuel system. Start with checking the fuel pump pressure and drop off. Drop off is when the key is turned off. The system should hold pressure for a few minutes. Here is a how to video and directions. You will need a gauge to check it. Most parts stores will lend or rent them to you.

Let me know what you find.
