I recently submitted to you a question about my high idle problem which was as the engine warms up the idle speed increases, sometimes as high as 3K rpm. I've rplaced the Intake Air Temp Sensor and the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. The engine coolant level is within specs and the engine heats to normal running temps. Sometimes during high idle running the brakes loss pressure. I have not yet checkedIdle Air Control Valve or the Cold Start Valve. Does the brake pressure loss and any clues to the problem? I would also like to know how to get get an engine default code on my 1994 Honda Accord which has a four cylinder engine.

Hi eugenepeter,

When brake assist is low, it usually is a vacumn leakage between the master cylinder and booster. There is a seal between the 2 components and tends to go bad over time.

To test the component, disconnect the brake booster vacumn hose and plug the intake manifold end. Start vehicle and see if the idling speed regularises.
