Hi, I drove my truck 21 miles mostly freeway to country paved road 4 miles. Parked and was there for hour. Got back in and it started right up. Got 3 miles down the road and it kinda felt like in the accelorator that it went pop but no sound. I was accelorating but it came to a stop anyway. I raised the hood and smelled like plastic or rubber burn but no signs of burn or steam or anything. There was no gas smell either from accelorating. Weird smell. The truck wouldn't start again. Had to have it towed 18 miles home after trying to pour little gas in carburator and still not start. It turns over but doesn't start. The battery was starting to drain so stopped trying to start it. Never had problems with it before. Last tune up I didn't change cap and roter, but changed spark plugs only and it's been about a year, but the truck is rarely driven as work came to halt with economy. Unemployed now for 4 months so Would appreciate any advice asap. I work on call basis, and need to be prepared. I will work on it myself unless it's to far beyond what I'm capable of doing. Thank you,
Debby

Priming it and will not start-check for spark

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine atleast 3/16 away from ground-have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark?

No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, camshaft and crankshaft position sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply to your vehicle disregard it meaning if it doesn't come with one ignore it and keep testing
