My battery light on I change out the alternator and bought a new battery and my car shuts off in drive in park it stays on what could be the problem?

Does it stall when you shift into drive? Or does it just turn off?
If it jerks then stalls I would think it might be the torque converter is locked. That is the first thing I would check.

If it just turns off, I would check the electrical ignition switch (it is at the bottom of the steering column). When I am starting mine the battery light stays on until the key is turned back to "run". Possibly the contacts are worn and something is not contacting? It would make sense since the starter circuit is linked to the park and neutral sensor switch, (so you can't start your car in drive).
I do not know, but that would be the first thing I would check.
