1989 Ford Probe

hello,
i have a problem with my car it turns over but will not fire. I bought wires, coil, distributor and rotor and nothin. The plugs are wet so its getting fuel. There was some oil in the carb so my friend sprayed brake clean in the carb and tried starting it. Will this effect it. I went and got carb cleaner the next day but still nothin. I had it started once but I had to pump the hell out of it, when it fired it was running rough and did not want to idle, then it over heated so I shut it off and nothin now just turns over. So I am up for any pointers u can give me thankx for ur time.

Did you replace the distributor? Or distributor cap?

The Probes had problems with the distributors on them.

Ok. Just to be sure we are talking the same. You replaced both the distributor cap and the distributer itself.

Are you getting spark?

Did you check timing?
