1993 Ford Escort Car won't start

I was driving home and the car just died. No sound or noise. Just died as if the key was turned off. I coasted to a stop and tried to start the car and it would only crank over as if it wanted to start but refused to. Just like if you were out of gas but I have a half tank of gas. Fuel Shut off located in cargo on the right is depressed so I couldn't reset it. The fuel cutout and check engine lights are on.

Any ideas what could be causing it? I would really hate to have to walk to work everyday.
