I have a 98 durango with a 5.2L, after the battery died on this vehicle I put a charger on start and tried to start it. To no avail the vehicle would just turn over and not fire. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and now have 12v pulsing as it cranks to the coil but when I crank it with a plug pulled I get no spark. And it does not attempt to fire. I jumpered out the Auto Shut Down relay and also checked contnuity thru the wire, appears good. I am confused on having voltage to the coil but no spark, is it the PCM or Coil pickup in the distributer?

Hello, if the coil wire goes to the cap, unplug the wire from the cap, hold close to engine ground, have helper crank engine, see if spark jumps from the coil wire. If it does, I think the problem is the rotor or cap.

Take the primary connector, smaller wires, loose from the coil. Use an led testlite between the terminals on the connector, engine cranking, there should be a pulse.

With the engine cranking, check for voltage at the injectors.
