1999 Dodge Caravan

I have just acquired a 99 Dodge Caravan in the last couple of weeks. Everything has been fine until yesterday. About 5 miles before home the van started to make a funny noise. It started to run really "rough". At the same time the oil light came on and beeped continuously the rest of the way. As I was turning into my subdivision the car shut off and would not restart. When attempting to restart there is no clicking noise that can be heard from the inside, but, you can from the outside. Also no noise as if it's trying to start either. My husband checked all the fluids (including the oil since the light came on) and all are within normal range. We had also just filled the car with gas, so that isn't an option. Any ideas at all?

Okay, if the oil light was on and it is full, something may have caused it to loose pressure (oil pump) and lock the engine up. With the key off, place a wrench on the crank pulley and see if you can turn the engine by hand.

Also, the noise you mentioned, was it a knocking or ticking sound?
