It'll run if you give it gas with the pedal, yeah I can hear the fuel pump.

It does sound like the engine is not getting enough fuel. It could have a restriction on the line. Like a clogged fuel filter or a bad regulator. Only way to tell is by testing the fuel pressure. Did you say that you checked the fuel pressure?

I changed the cap and rotor, wires and she fired up. There was a bunch of white powder inside the sill of the distributor.

The white power is aluminum oxide, it forms over time due to high voltage arcing the gap from the rotor to each post on the cap.
