So if it's backup, does this mean that if oil pressure
switch is faulty that the car would stall or shut down?

Yup if the fuel pump relay is gone they're tight together as long as theres oil pressure it will power the pump-

Try the crankshaft position sensor. If you think it's spark related. In older systems with 1 coil not a coil pack. Change the coil. The heat is causing an imperection to be exagerated. Get back to us. The other thing is have you changed the condenser on the coil? If not it's a cheap part, get it!
