I had a 1991 S-10 and it was simple to "trip" the computer terminal with a paper-clip, then count flashes of SES light, which in turn was the trouble code. I now have a 2003 Chevy S-10 4-cyl. My SES light is on and remains on. Can I trigger my computer by jumping terminals to get a light count, i.E, trouble code? If so, can somebody provide me a list of the trouble code numbers and corresponding problems?

1995 and up require a code reader or a scan tool to read the codes. Paper clip trick won't work for engine codes.
You can buy a cheap reader for 50 bucks or step up to a better unit for about 200.00 If you plan on doing work on your own vehicles for the foreseeable future opt for the best unit you can afford.
For a quick scan Auto Zone will scan the codes free. Advance does as well.
