I got a new battery yesterday and when I turned the car back on the gas gauge needle was stuck below the E peg, is there an easy way to fix this?

I have seen that happen before and the only way I have found is to physically move the needle back where it belongs. You really have to remove the dash cluster and remove the lens to do this right but I have cheated a few times and drilled a pinhole in the plastic cover and carefully used a paper clip to reach in and flip the needle.
