I have a 96 chevy lumina 3.1. All of a suden it wont start. I can jump start it at the starter and it would run for 3 seconds and stall. So I changed the ignition switch and still no start. My sister has a 96 lumina also that I got the key switch out of. Could that be th problem why it does not start. When I turn the key to start it nothing there. I heard that the key has a chip on it and it is not reading it and that is why no start.

The chip in your key is a resistor (there are several values). Your car's 'puter will only accept your original key's resister value. Go to your chev dealer. They can decide the chip you need ( from your original key) and cut a key to match the lock ( from the key to the switch you installed from your sister's car). These are not cheap keys, btw. Mike
