Hi, are you talking about the fuel pump relay? Maybe a faulty wiring circuit? How long since a tune-up? A dirty fuel filter might cause the pump to work harder than it should. Use a gage and check fuel pressure. Also, there is an oil pressure switch in parallel to the relay. Once you crank it enough to bring up oil pressure and the switch closes, the pump should run, even without the relay.
