You might be able to use an analog gage in place of the oil pressure sending unit? I'd have to look at it.

That is correct. Contact the local parts store and ask if they lend tools. Get an oil pressure gauge from them, remove the oil sending unit, and screw in the mechanical gauge. Start the engine and the gauge will identify the pressure.
