Planning to rebore my 1.5 liter engine from 0.010 to 0.020. Will I gain some speed and HP? Will it affect compression? Doing this for a project. Any tips that I can make an engine faster without spending too much money?

When oversized pistons are used, the capacity would be increased and more air can be drawn in which would increase the hp but it is not going to be something to shout about.

To make engine faster, there are a few things that works but not something extraordinary.

Polishing the intake and exhaust ports to make them smoother helps the air flow.

Increased air intake and additional fuel and faster expulsion of the exhaust gases have to be taken into consideration.

Advancing the valve timing slightly helps, so do advancing the ignition timing, but not by too much.
