Car Engine Ignition Rotor

This category contains featured questions as examples. They relate to most vehicles.

Question: 1995 Chevy 4.3 mileage: 110,000.  How do take off the ignition rotor, I tried to pull yank etc

Answer:   Sometimes they do get stuck on.  What we do is to squeeze them with channel lock pliers to crack them loose.  A new rotor must be used to replace the broken one.

Question: 1999 Chevrolet 2500 mileage: 110,000.  My ignition rotor has burned ash around the base of the rotor. Can this cause poor running at idle?

Answer:   Yes the burned ash deposits are a sign that the distributor cap and ignition rotor are in need of replacement.
