My car recently failed inspection. Check engine light indicated a po401 code. Egr vales were replaced. Engine light came on 4 days later. I did notice that when I initially start my car I see a small puff of blue smoke. Could there be something else wrong that the check engine light came on again? Do you have any idea how much it would cost for a valve job if this is required and is it dangerous to let it go for a while?

Hi there,

Re check the code and see what has caused the re set. As for the smoke, you can leave it for a while as it is just a small amount o oil by passing the valve stem seals and valve guides. As for the repair cost, this is often unknown as you need to have the head off and fully inspected so you know the extent of the problem.
