Okay, I have a question. I am thinking about buying the vehicle listed above Classic Sport Utility four-door. The guy says the transfer case is out and I was wondering if a transfer case from a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo all-wheel drive V8 would be the same and if it would work? I don't know the transfer case model numbers or what the numbers are on it it would be nice to know that I know but I have no access to them right now. But I didn't know if you knew right off hand if they would swap out or not let me know thanks for your time.

Hi,

We need to determine which transfer cases are used. If you look at pic 1, it provides the OEM part numbers for the two that could have been used on the 2000. Pic 2 shows the OEM part numbers for the two that could have been used on the 2001 Gr. Cherokee. Note they both have the NP242 as an option with matching part numbers. So, that one should work. However, if you have one of the others, they are different.

So, we need to identify what you are dealing with. If you look at pic 3, it shows the rear of the transfer case (toward the rear of the vehicle). I highlighted where the identification tag will be located. Check to see if they are the same model.

Let me know.

Joe

Thanks for the info, Joe. But I just decided not to go with buying the Jeep from the guy on Facebook. Just seemed like a lot more to it than just that and that he might have been lying about the ad that he posted on Facebook with the Jeep for sale. But not going to get into that, but I do appreciate your time and answering my question and hopefully I can find another Jeep for just as cheap but from a better seller. If you have any info on cheap vehicles where to find them besides Facebook or whatnot let me know I'm in the Iowa area. Thanks again, have a good rest of your day.

Hi Matt,

It sounds like you made a good decision. As far as others for sale, I'm in Pittsburgh so that is a little far. Have you checked craigslist?

Let me know.

Yeah then checking Craigslist Facebook by and sell everything local as well I even drive around to try to find vehicles for sale or vehicles that are sitting and go knock on the doors at farms and see what they are doing with the vehicles
