Ok I have 2008 honda accord LX

one weeks ago, engine emission lights just turned on.

I took my car to local honda dealer auto service and they

show me code PO497 and open up the backseat and show me evaporative emission line which connects between fuel tank to engine is chewd up and have some holes in the line (they said because of squarrels or mice)

and they said also another holes in fuel tanks so need to place
(but I could not see)

overall they estimates over 1000dollars to order new part of whole emission line and fuel tanks with 6hours labor fee.

do you think they are honest with that price?

and have any idea about the reasonable fee to pay?

please let me know

Hi junyoon,

Dealer prices are often regulated so should not be any problem where honesty is concerned. However their rates are always much higher than the normal shops and you can always get a second opinion from other sources.

This is not a major operations type of job therefore I believe it could be done by independent shops at a much lower price.
