The check engine light on the dashboard has been on for a while. From the diagnostics done, it shows that one of the intake manifold valves is permanently open. My question is which part needs to be replaced?

Hi:

By chance, do you still have the code that was retrieved? The intake manifold doesn't have a valve in it. If you provide the code, I should be able to point you in the right direction.

Let me know.

What is the actual code that you found? That system uses a single motor that moves linkage under the cover to move the valves and the common issue is that the valve breaks.
Be careful where you get the parts, I try to use OE controllers because the aftermarket ones tend to fail rapidly.

Since I am from Bulgaria, I am providing you with an extract from the performed diagnostics in Bulgarian. I can help with this. I hope that you will be able to understand the text of the diagnostics with google translator. Thank you in advance. Regards, Dimitar

OK that code shows that the actuator valve controller is stuck or the sensor is faulty. Testing it with a scan tool is easy as you can activate it and watch the valves move.
Because it's a Ford you might want to download a copy of the windows version of FORScan and buy the better dongle. With the extended license you can do as much with that tool as the factory scan tool.
However for the DIY it can be easier to just swap the actuator as the test. To do that you remove the intake manifold and replace the actuator.
The torque specs are in the first image.
