I changed transmission fluid and filter and it's not shifting right. Is there a recommend adjustment on the drain plug?

Hi JK,

I am not sure I understand your question. There is no adjustment to the plug. Either is is tight or not.

Also, I show only one transmission option for this vehicle which is a 4 speed 01M. Is this the transmission that you have? If so, this is a fill for life transmission and does not require servicing unless there is something wrong. At that point you would go in and fix it and then refill it with the recommended fluid. I attached the recommended fluid and amount to ensure you filled it with the proper amount (5.3L).

If you did not use the correct fluid or amount it will cause shifting issues.

Let me know if this is what you used and proper amount and we can go from there. Thanks

Know what I'm saying is inside the drain plug there is a little tube that lets you know how much fluids in there. Is there a precise setting to that to that it has to be in there?

Oh. I think this is what you are looking for.

That tube is what you pull out in order to drain the fluid. Then you put the tube back into the hole and it is your overfill tube. Basically, you fill the transmission until fluid drains out of that tube that is inserted fully into the drain plug hole. Once fluid comes out and then stops coming out, your fluid is at the proper level.
