My problem is I took all 3 bolts out when I replaced the belt. And when I took the alternator out, there were 2 wires that looked like they were going into censors, and they snapped. I think 1 is for the AC. And the other one I have no idea.

So anyways after I slipped the new belt on and finally put the adjuster bracket screw back on ( that was horrible) I tightened everything and then started the car except the belt wasnt turning!

the battery quickly gave out and now im stumped. There is another smaller belt that goes around the middle wheel towards the back and that isnt spinning either.

the belt is tight. It just wont spin. Im thinking maybe that other wire that was ripped off the alternator is supposed to tell the engine to run the belt? Im stuck. PLZ HELP!

The belts will turn regardless of what wires are broken or not connected, make sure that the belts are around the lower front engine pulley and that the front pulley is actually turning with the engine, this is the harmonic balancer and if it is a rubber suspended type and the rubber has torn, the outer section of the pulley may be slipping on the inner with the engine running.

I see, thank you for your response. Im glad the wires do not have to be attached. Anyways, I have the new belt on and everything is tight but still it wont spin. Once I start the car, I can see the other set of belts underneath the broken one spinning just fine. For some reason the new belt is not turning at all still.

The belt is on top, it ties between the alternator and a wheel that looks like its coming out of the side of the engine. That wheel is a little larger and it also has another belt on it that ties to another wheel in the back.

Is there any other reason why the wheels arent spinning? I do have very low oil. Sorry im so dumb. My brother in law is pretty good with cars and he is stumped as well. I know for a fact that the wheels were spinning before the belt broke because I heard alot of screaching and I used that spray to try to stop the noise and I saw the wheels spinning, but since my wife came home that night and I saw the belt shredded, I havent seen the wheels work since.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can you post a pic of the belt, if it is fitted correctly it should turn, the small belt at the rear is the power steering belt. Look at the pic the power steer and serpentine belt both go around the front pulley, is this how you have it?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I just took pictures. Now I just saw for the first time another wheel underneath the alternator that his a little bit larger and it has a black, rubberish kind of small block on it. I never noticed this other wheel. Im thinking now that I have the wrong belt and the one I need is much larger. Kinda like the one I originally bought, maybe even needs to be bigger.

The belt, I thought, was just supposed to go around the alternator and the one other wheel coming out of the engine. Does it have to go around 3 wheels?

In these 4 pictures, you can see the writing on the one belt. Thats the one thats fine. Its the belt with no writing on it that wont spin. The other belt underneath spins though.

Im so confused. The power steering on the car is out if that helps at all.

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Actually I wrote that wrong. Both of the belts. That go around the top 3 wheels dont spin. Its the belt underneath it that spins. But like I said, im not sure if im supposed to have a belt that wraps around 3 wheels.
