Our 1993 Saturn SL2 engine stalls when under load. This has been occurring for the past two weeks with increasing frequency. Our engine is the 1.9 litre twin cam engine. The vehicle has 119,000 Kilometres or 74,375 miles. The service engine soon light doest not come on. It is in working condition. I checked this when the engine is off and the ignition is on. Could someone please advice what needs to be replaced. Thank you.

Could be caused by one of the following below

Oxygen sensor.
Catalytic converter.
Fuel injectors dirty/sticking.
Mass airflow sensor/Airflow meter.
Throttle position sensor.
Crankshaft position sensor
Knock sensor
Manifold absolute pressure sensor.
EGR Valve
Fuel pressure regulator leaking or defective fuel pump.
Fuel contamination.
Foul/defective spark plugs.
Open spark plug wires.
Ignition coil/Coil packs defective.
Incorrect ignition timing.
Cap and rotor.

Note:If it doesn't apply disregard it and keep testing.

Just to add to this one. So the service engine soon light is inop?If so that is the first thing I would fix that way you can flash the code's out using the light. You could have a bad blub or someone could have removed the blub because the light was always on. SO when the car stalls will it restart right away?Or do you have to wait before it will restart?I would suspect you have a plugged cat bad egr vale or a bad coolant temp sensor from your symptoms.
