VALVE CLEARANCE
1. Check or adjust valve clearance with engine at normal operating temperature. Remove valve cover and set No. 1 cylinder at TDC. Check that rocker arms for No. 1 cylinder are loose and those for No. 4 are tight.

2. Adjust intake valve on cylinders No. 1 and No. 2 and exhaust valve on cylinders No. 1 and No. 3. Turn crankshaft one complete revolution (360 degrees). Adjust intake valves on cylinders No. 3 and No. 4 and exhaust valves on cylinders No. 2 and No. 4.

VALVE CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS

Intake - -.008 In. (.20 mm)
Exhaust - -.012 In. (.30 mm)

Remove anything that is obstructing the removal of the valve cover and the bolts holding the valve cover. Tap the valve cover with a piece of wood to loosen it, some prying might be needed but do not force or the cover might be damaged resulting in oil leaks.

Replace the gasket prior to installation.
