Hi,

MY Honda CRV's hood latch cable is completely broken and came out. How to open the hood? Please provide me with a guide line,

It seems the cable is broken and came out from the latch completely when we tried to pull it to open the hood somehow. There is no part of the cable attached to the latch now. Thats the situation. Please suggest a way to open it.

If I get under the car, will I be able to see the hood latch?

Is there a way to get into the latch through the front grill?

I posted a diagram of the hood latch under the hood so you can see what were up against.AS you can see it's all enclosed so we can't just slip in screwdriver in to pop it open.So where did the cable break?Did the end just fray and break at the release handle? What i think would be the easiest and less destructive to open the hood.Would be to cut the outer cable housing off and use a pair of vise gripe's to lock on the cable itself then pull it to open it.How much inner cable did you loose in inches?

I had the same thing happen on my 1997 Honda CR-V 2.0L. First, the plastic pull open part broken off of the end of the cable at the dash. I was still able to open my hood by grabbibg the small plastic piece on the interior end of the cable. Recently, the darned thing quit working all together. So, in desperation, I searched the web. This video is about the 1997 Accord, but should still work the same for you. I DID NOT remove ANY parts from my CR-V to do this. I was able to see the hole in the latch assembly the guy on You-Tube described, push a bent 16 penny finishing nail into the hole, pointing to the right angle (facing), pull it back hard left a Viola! The primary hood latch released allowing me to access the secondary one and quickly open the hood. Shop for a replacement cable on the web It is tried and true by yours truly and WILL get your hood open so that you may replace the broken cable. Best Wishes and GOD BLESS!
